1549 is the first whisky from Binche. It brings together two local crafts: brewing by Brasserie La Binchoise and distilling by Plus Oultre Distillery. Its name refers to the Triumphs of Binche in 1549, a landmark episode in the town’s heritage.
From beer to whisky, a shared creation
The story begins with an organic wash prepared by Brasserie La Binchoise. It is then distilled by Plus Oultre Distillery in Péronnes-lez-Binche. This continuity from brewing to distillation gives the project a distinctly local identity.
Four years of maturation
The whisky matured for four years in two types of cask: former American bourbon barrels and French XO Armagnac casks. This dual maturation is an integral part of 1549’s identity.
A bottle connected to the history of Binche
The historic year chosen for its name recalls the festivities held in Binche in 1549. The 50 cl bottle, at 49% ABV, connects a contemporary spirit with the memory of the town where it was born.
