The limited-edition Gin Firework is a bold, explosive interpretation of our iconic Gin de Binche, entirely handcrafted and distilled by Plus Oultre Distillery.

100% distilled, with no added artificial flavourings, this characterful gin develops an intense, spicy profile in which chilli and Sichuan pepper take centre stage. Sichuan pepper brings its citrusy, slightly electric notes, while chilli gently warms the tasting without ever masking the spirit's balance. A creation inspired by China 🇨🇳, the historic birthplace of fireworks, whose energy, power and spectacular character this gin captures.

🔥 A “Navy Strength” gin at 57% ABV

With its high strength of 57%, Gin Firework belongs to the “Navy Strength” category of gins. These powerful gins originated in the 18th century, in the days of the British Royal Navy 🇬🇧.

Aboard ships, sailors received a daily ration of gin. It was used to preserve drinking water, for medicinal purposes and to keep crews' spirits up during long voyages. To prevent deterioration during storage at sea, the gin had to have a sufficiently high alcohol content, generally between 54% and 57%.

Legend also has it that if gin leaked onto the gunpowder stores, a sufficiently strong gin allowed the powder to remain flammable despite contact with the alcohol — hence the name “Navy Strength”.

Today, this style of gin is particularly appreciated by cocktail lovers and enthusiasts of powerful spirits for its aromatic intensity and long finish.
